WordPress is amazing, but it really sucks when every person in the world knows the place on your site to login to your admin panel. A little scary when you think about it. So why not change it to something else? Something only you know! Hide your wordpress login page with the WPS Hide Login plugin.
Install the WPS Hide Login plugin
First, login to your admin panel and navigate to the plugins page. Click on the “Add New” button at the top of the page. In the search box, search for “WPS Hide Login“, you should see a plugin that looks something like the one displayed below. Install that sucker and activate it!
To learn more about the WPS Hide Login plugin, check out the official WordPress page for it. Maybe even give the developer some love!
How to change your WordPress login page?
After you have activated the plugin, hover over your sites “Settings” link in the navigation panel and you should see a new “WPS Hide Login” option in the list. Clicking on this link will take you to the bottom of your main Settings page. From here you can see the super simple interface that this AMAZING plugin gives you. Just a little text box. That’s it!
You should see your default websites address followed by a text box with the default login page. Change the text box to whatever you want your new login page to be. It can be anything! Try to pick something that is not easy to guess so that way others won’t be able to guess the name of your login page and try to mess with your site.
What happened to the old login page?
Once you have saved a new login page name, anyone who browses over to the usual WordPress login page will be met with your websites default 404 error page for “page not found”. And now, only you will know the location of your sites login page. Shhhh! Keep it a secret!
