Ever want to download a YouTube videos to your computer? Take them with you on your long trips and flights? Maybe that favorite music video or how-to guide? There a few useful tools out there, some of being web based and some require installs. One of those being 4K Video Downloader which has a super snazzy interface!
First off, 4K Video Downloader is not a web based video downloader like some other YouTube video download tools out there. So you will need download the installer from their website. That being said, you will be able to take advantage over most web based tools because you will have the application running on your computer. But more on that later.
Download and Run The Installer
You can get the installer from the applications website here: https://www.4kdownload.com/. Like most Windows applications, the installer is straight forward. It should only take a couple of clicks to get up and running.
Note: is that unlike a lot of installers you find these days. This installer does not try to install all sorts of extra programs and plugins onto your computer. It’s nice and clean. Just the program you are trying to install, the way it’s meant to be.
Launching the Video Downloader
After you get through the quick install, launch the program and you will see a very simple and clean interface. Snazy in fact! Right off the bat, you are ready to go to start downloading any and all the YouTube videos your heart desires. Just paste the link of any YouTube video into the application, or click the “Paste Link” button at the top, and it will starting loading the video information for you to select various options for downloading. From the video format and quality to just saving as a .mp3, even adding the subtitles to your downloaded video, the options are pretty complete.
Now all you have to do is click the “Download” button and your download will begin. It’s that simple. One really cool features that 4K Video Downloader has is the playlist feature. When you download a video that’s on a YouTube playlist, the program will auto detect that and ask if you want to download the entire playlist.
Same deal for videos from the same channel. If you download lots of videos from the same channel, you will be asked if you just want to download the entire channel. The downside is that to download a playlist, and maybe even a channel (but don’t quote me on this one), you can only auto download the playlist/channel for free if it has less that 25 videos on it. If there are more than 25 videos, you will have to either buy a license key (which is right around $15) or manually add each.
Possible workaround for the 25 video download cap?
If you really wanted a workaround for the cap, I guess you could make a playlist of your own. Then add 25 videos at a time to it and auto download that playlist. hmm… that might work…. but it does seem like a lot of effort for the workaround.
Faster downloading with Smart Mode
Another useful feature of this downloader is the “Smart Mode”. It is not as dramatic as it might sound. Really it just simplifies your download process by allowing you to save your download format, quality, and location preferences. This way you get one less popup with a button to click. It definitely makes downloading more efficient for sure. Allowing you to continue to copy and paste your YouTube links in a rapid fashion.
Final Thoughts: Is 4K Video Downloader worth installing?
In short, yes. The 4K Video Downloader program is one of the better pieces of software I have used over the years. Especially since it’s free (for the most part). It has a simple and clean interface to it. You can let YouTube videos download in the background. All without having to worry about your web browser timing out and losing your download progress. And best of all, you don’t have to worry about any ads or spam popups from the program. A solid install for sure!
